Average Reading Time: about a minute.

You’re not supposed to publish on Mondays.

The thinking is that you’re content will get lost in the shuffle. It’ll be ignored because of the sheer mass of other content and that extra little bit of stress that people feel starting a new work week.

But saying no to a creative impulse is a bad idea. Just as giving in to lethargy — rather than responding with action — perpetuates itself, rejecting motivation when it appears will have the same effect. It fosters inaction. In all cases — whether lethargic or motivated — act and act quickly.

When I started building my first application, I didn’t have a blog set up. Because I didn’t have a blog set up, I made a list of topics to blog about “when it was ready”. That was a mistake. Now the blog is set up, but the inspiration for those topics has passed. I’m left with a list of good subjects, but no excitement to write about them. It makes the writing that much more difficult.

Creativity is moody and it takes rejection personally. It’s sensitive and insecure. If it feels unwanted, it’s hesitant to come back. Don’t wait for it to appear, but take advantage of it when it does.

Inspiration has an expiry date.* Don’t let it pass by.
