Dogs are not children
Average Reading Time: less than a minute.
I have several well-meaning friends that think their dog is a surrogate child.
“Gonna have kids?”
“Nah, we have a dog.”
Thinking your dog is the equivalent of your child is like thinking you’re a pro poker player, but you’ve only ever played with Monopoly money.
It feels like the real thing right up until you experience the real thing.
Here’s an easy test to see if a dog owner’s commitment to a pet is as great as a parent’s to a child.
Ask the dog owner this question:
“If your spouse had to choose between your life and your dog’s… which choice would you hope for?”
Parents answer that one a little differently.
